The creators of the classic Buddha Box, FM3, have teamed up with the group Throbbing Gristle to create a new ambient/loop box called Gristleism. This box has become one of the regular devices used for my live performances due to the wide array of sounds you can get from it. It includes 13 original loops by Throbbing Gristle. ASMO (check out his site) has posted information on how to apply his LFO mod over at the GRISTLEISM website along with some bends from others.
My Gristleism includes the ASMO style LFO mod along with a starve control (which sadly doesn’t do much degrading), housed in a small enclosure found at the local parts store, and stenciled with the original packaging that came with the Gristleism. The LFO mod used on this box, compared to the other LFOs I have added in the past, is more complex. Typically when adding an LFO to a toy the only control is the rate or speed that the LFO runs (still fun), but this LFO uses the 555 chip to the fullest adding depth and wave shape controls! Something that can easily be used on other devices, so if you are wanting to try one out, go check out the GRISTLEISM website for the how-to.
